This weekend, Racing Vilalbés is organising the third edition of the tournament, in which 49 teams will participate: 26 in the youngest category and 23 in the junior category. Around 600 players will take part at the municipal natural grass pitch in A Magdalena.

The pitch will be divided into three to accommodate the matches, which will be held on both days from 9:30 am. The respective finals are scheduled for 9 pm on both days.

Saturday is for the alevín teams and Sunday for the benjamín teams. As well as the host team, there will be teams from the Chairega region, such as CD Castro and SD Pol, as well as teams from the Lugo area, including Deportivo de la Coruña, UD Ourense, Ural, Atlético Arteixo and Silva.

“The aim is to promote coexistence between clubs.”

Juan José Vázquez Carreira, the president of the red and green club, thanked Alberto Román, head of Tecnorenova, for his involvement in this initiative. “Thank you for helping us to promote children’s sport. Without a sponsor like this, it is very difficult to organise such a big tournament,’ he said.

Vilalbés also emphasises that the aim is to ‘promote coexistence and a good atmosphere’ between clubs from different parts of Galicia.

In addition, a catering service will be provided by Chao de Brea, with a marquee, and those who wish to eat at the stadium are recommended to make a reservation.

Other initiatives

Meanwhile, Racing Vilalbés is holding open days this month for players ranging in age from babies to juniors (born between 2012 and 2019), and is also organising its traditional summer camp, which will take place during the week beginning 24 July.

On a sporting level, Vilalbés has confirmed that it is putting together the first team for the 2024–25 season.
